We have been coming to bread and lard since they opened. This is such a great space with amazing atmosphere, delicious food and big selection of sweat treats and nice drinks. The food is always on the top level with few classics on the menu and some seasonal options. On Sunday they also serve the most amazing Sunday Roast. On the photos attached we are having a classic ciabatta with eggs, bacon and homemade tomato sauce and the most tasty toasts with smashed tomatoes, basil and olive oil and delicious poached eggs. I also had “burnt honey tart” - can’t stop thinking about it. It’s a great space in the neighbourhood, it brings joy and fun to be around. Good quality, local ingredients prepared with love. Definitely recommend for breakfast, brunches, Sunday roasts, nice wine, beer, coffee or something sweet. It is also very dog friendly which is amazing. Our pooch loves hanging there with us.
Amazing, local and independent place that serves the most divine food. Great service, epic tunes and lively atmosphere. A wonderful spot for lunch and coffee.
I’ve had the absolute pleasure of being a regular at Bread and Lard Island, a gem located in West Bridgford, Nottingham. It’s not just a bar and cafe to me; it’s a place that feels like home, thanks to the warmth and care of the owner, the culinary magic of the chef, and the entire team who’ve consistently made every visit memorable. Every meal here is a testament to their commitment to quality and freshness. The kitchen team works wonders with fresh ingredients, ensuring that every dish not only tastes fantastic but also showcases their dedication to authentic culinary experiences. It’s clear they don’t cut corners, and it shines through in the flavours. What truly sets Bread and Lard Island apart, though, is the atmosphere. It’s more than just a place to eat and drink; it’s a cultural hub that pulses with happy vibes and genuine community spirit. It’s where family and friends come together, where new connections are made, and where every visit feels like a celebration of what makes West Bridgford special. I cannot recommend Bread and Lard Island enough. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make it a point to stop by. You’ll be greeted with open arms, incredible food, and an experience that will keep you coming back for more. Thank you to everyone at Bread and Lard Island for always going above and beyond. You’ve truly created something amazing.
I’ve been a regular at Bread and Lard Island since it first opened, and every time I have eaten here it’s been absolutely perfect The culinary skills of both Ben and Sam in the kitchen, paired with fresh and quality ingredients, rival some of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at, and that’s not an over exaggeration. Each dish has its own unique layer of flavours that stand out as well as complement each other perfectly, and all priced very reasonably. The Sunday roast is one of the stand out dishes at Bread and Lard. For portion size, quality, and value for money it can not be beaten. Would 100% recommend for lunch during the week, a nice Friday evening meal, Sunday roast, or just a drink and slice of cake at any time. Also a great option for takeaway if you’re in a rush.
Every time that I have eaten at Bread & Lard it has been wonderful. I’ve never had a better Sunday dinner, the breakfast and lunch options are varied and always delicious and the cakes are lovely. The breakfast curry is always a favourite, whenever it appears on the menu. Everything is freshly prepared by them, which I really appreciate, it is beautifully cooked and high quality. B&L don’t take the shortcuts you that you see in chain, or other local cafes and restaurants. The staff are warm and friendly each time I visit. I love this place. Each time that I leave I am always full of food and joy.
Stopping nearby so through I would try out this place and so glad I did, super friendly welcome from the owner. I went for the Bacon and fried eggs on a Ciabatta, not something I would normally have for breakfast but wow it was outstanding. It’s a very unique place with amazing artwork on the walls, a huge disco ball and loads of lights. They have events on too, see their instagram for details. I would highly recommend this place, every time I’ve walked past it’s very busy. I will be back next time I’m in this area. Always nice to support local businesses such as this. Look forward to coming back again.
I visited Bread and Lard Island for the first time this morning with my friend and had such a lovely time. It had a really nice informal feel to it, and smelt amazing! I ordered the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup... it was delicious, the bacon was perfectly crisp, but I found the portion size too big for me so wasn't able to finish it. I enjoyed a lovely decaf latte and would probably have ordered another one but was too busy chatting to get up and order one... it would have been great if a server had come and asked if we wanted any more drinks. I'll definitely be visiting again!
Can't believe I have lived in notts for 5 years and never been recommended this place! Such good food and coffee. Can't wait to get back. The roasted aubergine and Turkish bread was so tasty.
